Novemberben lehetőségünk nyílt ellátogatni a Weöres Sándor Színházba, ahol angol nyelven tekinthettük meg a The Great Gatsby című színdarabot.

Az anyanyelvi színészek játéka remek alkalmat adott arra, hogy a tantermen kívül is gyakoroljuk az angol nyelvet. A darab szépen megragadta a regény lényegét, ugyanakkor a kevés szereplő miatt a karakterek közötti kapcsolatok még hangsúlyosabban jelentek meg. Gatsby rejtélyes alakja és Daisy iránti megszállottsága központi szerepet kapott. A történeten Nick Carraway narrátorként vezetett végig minket, az ő szemszögén keresztül követhettük az eseményeket.

Érdekes dinamizmust adott az előadásnak, hogy a színészek több szerepben is színre léptek. A jazz-korszak hangulatát a zene és a tánc idézte meg, a jelmezek pedig a ’20-as évek fényűzését és dekadenciáját tükrözték. Gatsby legendás partijai a színházi térben is lenyűgözően elevenedtek meg. A darab csúcspontját a tragikus végkifejlet jelentette, amely Gatsby álmainak összetörését mutatta be.

Összességében egy nagyon izgalmas és értékes élményben volt részünk, amit ezúton is szeretnénk megköszönni tanárainknak.

Almost the same in English 😀

On November 3rd, we had a chance to visit the Weöres Sándor Theatre to watch the English adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Seeing the performance delivered by native English-speaking actors gave us the opportunity to improve our language skills.

Although the production had a smaller cast of five actors, the high-speed character changing never felt confusing, instead it felt like the actors were inviting the audience to participate in the act of imagining, to fill in the gaps the way the readers do.

Gatsby’s enigmatic personality and his yearning for Daisy remained at the center of the story, while Nick Carraway guided the audience through the plot as the narrator, presenting everything from his own viewpoint.

The music,choreography and stage set helped recreate the vibrant spirit of the Jazz Age, and the play explored themes of illusion, the fragility of the American Dream, and the social divisions that shaped the characters’ lives.

The tragic ending serves as the climax, reminding us how far Gatsby was willing to go for his dreams, and how ultimately unreachable they were.

Overall it was a really memorable experience, and we are truly thankful for our teachers, who made this opportunity possible for us!:)
